Watch out for Christmas drunks - that's the message for Greenwich pub landlords in a campaign to keep boozed-up punters from misbehaving during the festive period.

Greenwich Council has set up a responsible drinking Christmas campaign and are working with police to encourage landlords and managers to keep an eye out for excessive drinking, ensure their customers get home safely and turn down noisy music.

To remind all licensed premises of their responsibilities, a letter has been delivered giving them advice and tips.

Greenwich Borough Commander Detective Chief Superintendent Helen Millichap said: "Many licensed premises across the borough work hard throughout the party season to ensure safe and responsible festivities, causing no concerns to the police and our dedicated license officers.

"We expect all licensees in Greenwich to take responsibility for the impact their venues have on their local community. We’d like everyone to have a safe and enjoyable time without disturbances or disruption."
