A Plumstead man will appear in court today accused of dousing himself in petrol at a Woolwich filling station and threatening to set himself alight.
Police officers, including firearms officers, hostage negotiators, London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service were called to the petrol station in Artillery Place, Woolwich, on October 28 at around 7.20pm.
During a stand-off, police fired a single baton round at the man and arrested him at around 9pm.
Jason Sumbo Koku, 22, of Villas Road, Plumstead, was charged yesterday (October 29) with one count of attempted arson with intent to endanger life.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear today at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.
