A corrupt PCSO from Plumstead who abused her position at Sussex Police to steal thousands from passengers at Gatwick airport has been jailed for six and a half years.

Alexis Scott told travellers at the airport that they were carrying too much money and then pocketed the cash herself.

The 39-year-old, of High Grove, was found guilty at Canterbury Crown Court of six charges of theft and one of misconduct in public office.

And today (September 25), she was sentenced to six-and-a-half years' for the misconduct in public office offence and two years for each of the theft offences, to run concurrently.

Deputy Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney from Sussex Police said: "Sussex Police expects the highest personal and professional standards of everyone who works for us.

"Scott fell woefully short of those standards, abusing the trust that we had placed in her, but more importantly, the trust of the public and in particular, the victims of her crimes."

Scott was dismissed from the force following a misconduct hearing last year.
