A man arrested when police raided the derelict building site of the new Dartford Tesco has been charged with drug possession.

Lukasz Marek Maik, aged 37, of no fixed address, faces one charge of possessing amphetamine, a Class B drug, and one of vagrancy.

Police were called at around 7.40pm on September 1 to reports of a man being seen in one of the boarded up buildings in Lowfield Street.

Maik was arrested and has been bailed to attend Dartford Magistrates’ Court on October 9.

Demolition of the old shops and houses from numbers 26 to 142, to make way for a new Tesco and 34 one-bed and 73 two-bed flats, was meant to start last month.
