A car believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run when it mounted the pavement and fractured a man's skull has links to Eltham or Anerley, police say.

Police say the incident happened between 3.10am and 3.30am in Whitehorse Lane, Croydon, on August 31 when the vehicle mounted the pavement and struck the 31-year-old victim.

Detectives believe the vehicle involved was a light-coloured Hyundai Amica car, with registration number W431 BHK.

Police have been unable to establish or contact the registered owner of the vehicle at this stage, and are asking for help to trace the car, which has links to Eltham and Anerley, as well as Enfield.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who has seen the vehicle, knows where it is, or who owns it.

Detective Constable Lorna Sillet, from Croydon CID, who is investigating the incident said: "The victim was left with very serious injuries and sustained a fractured skull as a result of this incident.

"We're determined to identify and find those responsible and we're asking the public for their help in locating this vehicle.

"Please get in touch if you've seen it in the past few days, or if you know where it is. We'd also ask any garages in the London and south-east area to contact us if they've carried out, or had requests for repair work on a vehicle matching this description since Sunday."

Anyone with information should contact Detective Constable Sillett in Croydon CID by calling 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
