A 55-YEAR-OLD man charged with a string of sexual abuse against young girls made one of his victims wear his wife's underwear, a court has heard.

Along with other offences David Brennan, of no fixed address, alongside son Sam Brennan, aged 22, of Eltham Hill, deny jointly raping an eight-year-old girl.

David Brennan has admitted raping a child under 18 as well as five counts of indecently assaulting a girl under 18, one of indecency with a child and two counts of inciting a child under 18 years to engage in and watch sexual activity.

But prosecutor Patricia May told the jury: "As far as the prosecution are concerned, the matters against these children, as they all were, which he has admitted, do not begin to plumb the depths of his offending against them, as it's alleged to be."

Woolwich Crown Court heard his first victim claimed he had exposed himself to her when she was between seven and 11, telling her to "try this”.

Jurors heard that after she pulled away he said "good girl for trying" before giving her two cigarettes.

Another victim was made to wear his wife's underwear while he took pictures, the jury was told.

In a pattern of sustained abuse he would begin by touching her, but went on to have full sexual intercourse, Ms May said.

She said: "He would say things to her whilst this was going on such as 'you know you like it' and 'remember, it's our little secret'."

Another girl was made to sit on his lap while he touched her, the court heard.

The allegations only came to light when one of his victims went to police late last year.

Jurors heard the victims had been warned by David Brennan not to tell anyone.

Ms May said of one girl: "She recalls that she put her Barbie dolls in a row and would tell her Barbie dolls what was going on."

David Brennan denies 18 sexual offences including seven counts of raping a child.

His son Sam also stands accused of one count of taking indecent photos of a child, one of indecency with a child, and one of causing a child to engage in sexual activity. He denies all charges.
