Catford man Richard Henry sent to mental hospital over Carmel Charles killing

A CATFORD 22-year-old has been locked up in a mental hospital after stabbing his girlfriend Carmel Charles to death last year.

Skunk cannabis smoker Richard Henry admitted manslaughter on the day he was due to face trial at the Old Bailey last month.

Police found Miss Charles, aged 20, suffering from stab wounds in Ravensbourne Park, Catford, on November 19 last year.

Officers had been called to reports of an assault at around 2pm and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The court was told that Henry, of Sussex House, Ravensbourne Park, had a history of mental health problems.

And on February 22, Judge Richard Hone said Henry should be put in a mental hospital indefinitely.
