A MAN has appeared in court in connection with the killing of Kevin McKinley.

Father-of-three McKinley, 32, died after being shot in Fulwich Road, Dartford on February 12.

Lewis Wickenden, of Overy Street, Dartford, appeared before Dartford Magistrates via video link on Friday, charged with possessing a firearm, namely a semi-automatic single-barrel shotgun and possession of ammunition, namely shotgun carriages, both without firearms certificates.

The 25-year-old also faced a charge of assisting an offender. His case was committed to Maidstone Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on Friday. (Feb 1)

Wickenden’s partner Michaela Sargeant, 24, of the same address, has been charged with the murder of Mr McKinley.

She appeared at Maidstone Crown Court last Tuesday (Feb 17) and was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on April 19 for a plea and case management hearing.

A provisional trial date has also been set for August 5. Neither Wickenden or Sargeant have entered a plea.

Emergency services were called to Overy Street at shortly before 8pm on Tuesday and found the 32-year-old with a gunshot wound.

The victim had gone into cardiac arrest and was treated by ambulance staff at the scene before being taken to Darent Valley Hospital where he died of his injuries.
