BEXLEY residents have less than three weeks left to have their say on the future of policing in the borough.

The Mayor of London’s draft Police and Crime Plan sets out priorities for policing and crime reduction in the capital over the next four years.

Under the plans Bexley will be left with one front counter open 24 hours in Bexleyheath as Belvedere closes and Marlowe House in Sidcup has its hours reduced.

The borough will gain 16 more regular officers by 2015 – 360 up from 344 – and will see nearly 50 more in Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs): 110 up from 61.

Deputy Mayor for policing and crime Stephen Greenhalgh will host town hall meetings in every borough and visited Bexley on January 29.

He will also host a London-wide consultation meeting at City Hall on February 28.

Mr Greenhalgh said: "As we’ve travelled across the capital we’ve had some really valuable discussions and with just three weeks left to go I’d urge anyone with an interest in policing in Bexley to get involved.

"These views will help shape the final plan which aims to make a real difference to the future of policing in London."
