A LEWISHAM police officer was reportedly left with broken ribs after being attacked with scissors during a Lee call-out.

Police were called at 12.14pm today (Feb 6) to reports of a disturbance at an address in Farmcote Road.

Officers attended after a man in his 40s assaulted a woman in her 60s at the address.

A 36-year-old male police officer was injured after the man attacked him with scissors, police say. The officer was taken to hospital by colleagues at the scene.

London Ambulance Service attended and a female victim was also taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and is currently in custody at a south London police station.
