A £5,000 reward is available for help catching thieves who dragged a 98-year-old widow from her bed and ripped the wedding ring from her finger.

The thugs smashed into dementia-sufferer Sarah Isaac’s Kidbrooke home and threw her onto her bedroom floor - leaving a gash on her arm - before looting her room while she watched helplessly on January 12.

The grandmother-of-two lives in Wricklemarsh Road and was distraught after the raid where the thieves made off with her own and her dead husband’s wedding bands as well as cash, jewellery and house keys.

Crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers has now put up a reward for anyone able to offer information anonymously that will lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the burglary.

Communications Manager for Crimestoppers Heather Broughton said: "This incident is selfish and cruel and has left an elderly woman physically hurt and without sentimental items of great importance to her and the memory of her late husband.

"Did you see or hear anything suspicious in Wricklemarsh Lane? Have you come in possession of the stolen items?

“Don't let those responsible get away with this crime or let them reoffend, contact Crimestoppers anonymously and tell us who and where they are.

"We won't ask any if your personal details and you won't have to go to court."

If you have any information on this incident please contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use the secure online form at crimestoppers-uk.org
