A “PECKISH” thief raided a garden shed of its frozen meats during a spate of burglaries in Lewisham over the weekend.
Despite snowy conditions, there were 11 burglaries – most in the Brockley area with two in New Cross and one in Forest Hill – reported between Friday and Sunday.
One carnivorous criminal sneaked into an unlocked garden shed in Howson Road on January 19 and stole a selection of meats from the freezer.
A Lewisham Police spokeswoman said officers made house-to-house enquires but no suspects have been found.
Tweeting about the incident, Lewisham Police posted: “Despite the snow we still had quite a few burglaries over the weekend, approximately 11 over night & one where the suspect got a bit peckish.”
Police have issued an appeal for residents to secure their sheds with heavy-duty padlocks as they often contain valuable goods and can provide thieves with tools to break into houses.
