A LIST of police stations proposed for closure has been released by the Mayor of London.
Boris Johnson's draft Police and Crime Plan proposes selling off 65 front counters across the capital to help make savings of £60m.
The plans only guarantee one 24-hour station in each borough, keeping just 71 open in the capital.
Stations remaining open for 24 hours a day in the News Shopper area will be Bexleyheath, Plumstead, Bromley and Lewisham.
In Lewisham borough, Catford and Deptford will be downgraded to a daytime service.
According to the mayor, less than 50 crimes a night are reported on average at police front counters and only the least used will be closed. Police contact points are set to be opened in London's council buidlings, libraries and post offices instead.
Mr Johnson said: "In the current economic climate there is no denying that tough decisions will have to be made but policing in the capital is changing and we must change with it by creating a police force that is ready to tackle the issues that matter most to Londoners."
Deputy Mayor for Policing Stephen Greenhalgh said: "The changes proposed by the Mayor will give London the police force it needs for the twenty-first century and reconnect Londoners with the first public service. By putting bobbies before buildings and being smarter about how we use budgets we can not only create a police force to be proud of but one that we can afford."
A consultation is being held on the proposals, with a number of public meetings across the area. For details visit www.london.gov.uk/policingevents
