TWO further men were arrested this week in connection with the murder of Marcus Innocent who was gunned down in Woolwich, bringing the total number to 10.

The 35-year-old, of Kingsman Street, was shot in the stomach in Lord Warwick Street on November 19.

Police were called around 6.20pm and London Ambulance Service attended but Mr Innocent was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday (November 27), a 32-year-old and a 28-year-old were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both were bailed to return in January next year pending further enquiries.

Prior to the attack, a group of between 15 to 20 people – described as black and white individuals – were seen hanging around a group of shops in Kingsman Street at the junction with Lord Warwick Street.

Detectives believe the victim was set upon by one person from this group, before more joined in and then he was shot.

Members of the group were then seen running down Lord Warwick Street towards Frances Street while others drove off in cars parked at the back of the shops in Lord Warwick Street.

A post-mortem examination at Greenwich Mortuary on November 20 gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the stomach area.

On Sunday (November 25) an 18-year-old man and a 37-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 18-year-old has been bailed to a date in late January pending further inquiries and the 37-year-old man has been bailed to a date in late November pending further inquiries.

On November 22 three men in their early 20s were arrested on suspicion of murder.

Two of them, aged 23 and 20, have been bailed to return in early January pending further inquiries.

And the other man, aged 21, has been bailed to a date in late January.

It follows the arrest of three men, aged 20, 22 and 19, on suspicion of murder on November 19 who have all been bailed to return in early January pending further inquiries.
