A DRUNK 19-year-old man, who blamed a year in jail for his lack of sex, raped an elderly woman at her Gravesend home, Maidstone Crown Court heard today.
Jurors were told that Joe Street, of no fixed address, attacked the woman, a 78-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, on June 14 this year.
In a police interview played in court the victim said: "I thought, he could knock me for six, couldn't he.
"I thought, just let it happen."
The court heard that Street was let into the woman's home where he sat staring "like a zombie", took off his jumper and t-shirt, and talked of having drunk 13 cans.
At one point Street mentioned not having sex for some time because he had been in jail for a year, the victim said.
After going upstairs for a while, the court heard he returned, exposed himself and then raped her.
When she tried to push him away, Street replied: "No."
The victim claimed the attack was two or three minutes long, after which he told her: "It'll be alright."
Street denies rape. The trial continues.
