New Wine Church held a talent show last Sunday on the 20th December 2009. The themes the contestants needed to follow were: Originality, Ministering Ability, Christmas and of course the Entertainment Value. These four criteria were judged critically by the four different assigned judges.
The contestants gave their all on stage and all were extremely entertaining; there were many different talents, singing seemed however to be the most popular. Other acts included; Christian Rap with a great hook and also an original poem entitled the “Christmas Cheer”. After performing the common response from the audience was a huge round of applause and a very unique response of “yh”.
The judges were very professional giving all contestants praise along with constructive criticism. After all acts performed the judges were given some time to deliberate and the winners were announced. In joint 1st place were the modern day drama production where the birth of Jesus was re-enacted and the rapper with the famous hook: 'they’ll never KILL HIM, they’ll never BURN HIM, and they’ll never BURY HIM.' In third place was the Christmas medley singer. There was also an extra winner - a little girl who showed that girls hula hoop the best (although I am a tad biased as I am female.) All the acts, winners and runner ups were congratulated for their efforts.
And finally, what did members of the audience think of the talent show? They loved it! “It was sick”, “I’m happy I went” and “Judges made the right choice”. Which concludes New Wine’s talent show was a great success!
