Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice in Abbey Wood, South-East London is asking local people to be vigilant following an incident that took place on Friday (July 18) at 10.45pm.
A member of the public contacted the Abbey Wood-based Hospice on Saturday (July 19) to report a group of six people who knocked on the door of his house in Belvedere. The group said they were collecting money for the Hospice.
The gentleman, who wishes to remain anonymous, lives near the Hospice shop on 20 - 22 Station Road, Lower Belvedere.
He said one of the callers had an ID badge and said he was from Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
It has been reported that the group are driving around in a small box type van with the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice logo on it.
The Hospice’s Chief Executive Kate Heaps said: “We are issuing a warning to let people know that we do not have any unsolicited collectors working in the area. We are urging everyone to be vigilant and to report anything suspicious.”
