A Couples Night organised by The Church Of Pentecost (Deptford District) held at the African Community Centre Hall in Abbey Wood has raised £600 for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.

“We decided to support Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice because the Hospice is one of our local worthy causes,” said Monica Plange from the Couples Night Organising Team.

“Christianity is not just about singing and praying in buildings. It’s about supporting and helping your local community.”

The Bexley Hospital Social Work Team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Woolwich did a collection to support the night and the African Community Centre in Abbey Wood discounted the hall hire and have pledged the same support next year, in support of the hospice.

The Church Of Pentecost held its first Couples Night last year and raised £280. It hopes to keep growing and possibly team up with other local churches to raise even more money for the hospice next year.

District Pastor Emmanuel Danso says he is thankful and encouraged by the amount raised and prays that next year's event will be even more successful. Community fundraiser, Augusta Adu, said: “It was a great night, £600 is a fantastic amount to raise in one evening, and we’re delighted and so thankful for their support.”

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice is a registered charity offering free specialist end of life nursing, medical care and support for local people, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
