This year marks 20 years since the first people arrived at Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice in Bostall Hill, Abbey Wood for inpatient care.

Co-Founders of the Hospice, Don Sturrock and Pat Jeavons, shared a vision that there would be a Hospice to care for the people of Greenwich and Bexley boroughs.

After nearly 10 long years of fundraising and campaigning, they finally opened the doors to their Hospice in 1994.

Since then, the Hospice has grown in size and the services delivered by Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice have developed to meet the changing needs of local people and their families.

Today the Hospice provides specialist palliative care and support to over 2,500 local people and their families every year whether that is in the Inpatient Unit or Day Hospice in Abbey Wood, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, in care homes and at home – which is where many people choose to be – at home with loved ones.

The Hospice is a registered charity and relies on the support of the local community to continue its work.
