The Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice Santa Dash was a huge success with nearly 350 people running, walking and jogging 5km around Danson Park in Bexleyheath. The event, in its second year, was held on Sunday, 1st December to raise funds for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.

The park was filled with a sea of red and white as fundraisers, dressed in Santa suits, set off from Mansion House to run, walk or jog twice around Danson Park.

Community Fundraiser, Megan Boyle, said: “There was a great atmosphere on the day and everyone really enjoyed themselves. We had festive music playing, a Santa sleigh and a fun warm-up led by Julia from Changes Ladies Gym in Bexleyheath.

“The event looks set to raise over £8,000, which is enough to supply the inpatient unit with medicines for an entire month, helping to keep our patients comfortable this Christmas by getting their pain and symptoms under control, and allowing them to share this special time of year with their families and friends.

“Thank you to everyone who came along and took part.”

The event was supported by The Rotary Club of Bexley who brought Santa along in his sleigh and helped to present medals to the children at the finish line.
