Occupational Therapist Wendy Doubleday from Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice has picked up a Dignity in Care Award for her work leading the Stepping Stones drop-in service at Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice. The free fortnightly service offers support for those experiencing a life-limiting illness, their partners, family, carers, friends and those recently bereaved.

Wendy was awarded the Dignity Award under the Maintaining Health & Wellbeing category.

Senior Lymphoedema Practitioner Eileen Lewis and Physiotherapist Kate Smith were Highly Commended for the work they do with patients with lymphoedema.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich Dignity in Care Awards 2013 were hosted by Greenwich Mayor, Councillor Angela Cornforth in the Mayor’s Parlour in Woolwich Town Hall in October. The awards, which were being held for the third time, promote the importance of dignity in care and recognise those who place it at the heart of everything they do.

Penny Jones, Director of Care Services at Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, who nominated the trio, said: she was delighted that the work Wendy, Kate and Eileen do for both hospice and community patients has been recognised by the local community.
