OVER 400 people took to their bikes to join the largest charity bike ride in South East London on Sunday 6th October to raise funds for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
Cyclists of all ages and abilities cycled 12 or 27 miles along the Thames Cycle Path, from Erith to Greenwich, via Woolwich to raise funds for the Abbey Wood Hospice.
“It was fantastic to see so many people coming out to support their local Hospice, the weather certainly helped, as did the chance to see the sights and sounds along the world famous River Thames,” said community fundraiser and event organiser Augusta Adu.
“We are on track to raise £16,000, thanks to everyone who took part and to our volunteers for ensuring everything ran so smoothly on the day.”
Gwen Jones, the Pearly Queen of Greenwich, and Charlotte Bennett, the Pearly Princess of Woolwich started off the ride in Greenwich and the Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Sharon Massey started things off in Erith.
Next year’s Big Bike Ride will take place on Sunday 5th October.
“We’re looking forward to another successful event,” said Augusta.
