A CRICKET match organised by Dartford MP Gareth Johnson will raise money for a horse riding for the disabled centre.

Mr Johnson’s team of local public figures – including News Shopper’s Jim Palmer – will line up against Dartford Cricket Club at Hesketh Park on Sunday (July 1).

The game, which is already supported by businesses and organisations, will raise money for Arrow Riding Centre for the Disabled in Darenth and Dartford Cricket Club.

Mr Johnson said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to raise funds for this excellent cause and to have the opportunity to play cricket against Dartford Cricket Club. The Arrow Riding Centre is a fantastic asset to our community, providing riding lessons to the disabled from Dartford and much further afield.”

Chairman of Dartford Cricket Club, Jim Lowrie said: “Dartford Cricket Club is one of the oldest clubs in the country which provides valuable support for local community groups and recreation for young and old. It is a great local facility for the area and we are currently looking for new players to join either the adult or youth sides.

“I would encourage anyone interested in joining the Club to come to the event on the 1st July to find out more.”

Entry is free and the day begins at 9.30am. Junior Kwik Cricket will get underway at 10am and the main event starts at 11.30am. There will be stalls, a tombola, barbecue and ‘beat the batsman’ around the ground.
