Computers 4 Africa have been awarded a fantastic $5,000 and garnered international recognition for winning the annual Creating IT Futures Foundation’s Philanthropic Challenge.

A cheque was presented by parent company, global IT trade association, CompTIA, at their UK Channel Community event in Cardiff.

Creating IT Futures CEO, Charles Eaton, said: “The Creating IT Futures Foundation is pleased to see CompTIA's member communities identify charities that move the needle forward for IT careers for youth and adults.

"The UK Channel Community obviously sees Computers 4 Africa as fulfilling a crucial need: making sure more young people in Africa have the tools of technology as they advance their education."

The generous award will help 750 students at Naivasha College in Kenya reach their full potential.

These students will receive a USB wristband, which will allow them to back up and be responsible for their own work. It will also allow Computers 4 Africa to sponsor one person through invaluable IT training at Naivasha College, with a laptop and tool kit being presented to them at their graduation.

Sharon Roberts, head of marketing at Computers 4 Africa, explains: “Being a winner of this annual award was a real honour for us. CompTia has a worldwide reputation for training; with the use of the Philanthropic Challenge their ‘training’ will got to a new dimension!

"We will supply the 750 wristbands with our next shipment of computers and they will be absolutely vital to the students.”
