IT is 2078 and the Government has ordered random culling to tackle overpopulation.

That is the starting point of a film due to be shot in Greenwich and Lewisham – but you’ll have to put your hand in your pocket if you want to see it.

Producers CubeInk want to make Sci-fi drama The Knock and have already secured £9,000 in services to get them through pre-production but they need £3,500 by July 6 to get the film made.

Directors Thom and Chris Greybe have pedigree, having already written and produced five films together.

Their 2010 film The Container was an award-winner shot at Pinewood Studios and its trailer was screened at Cannes where the UK Film Council’s Chris Collins said it had “incredible production values.”

Producer Rebecca Ioannou, who started her career at King’s Speech producers Bedlam

Productions, said: “We have been working on the development of this film since last year and we believe the film has the creative potential to do really well on the film festival circuit and expose us as film makers.

“We are passionate about the work we do and we work really hard to make sure that the film is at the highest level of creative content. We want to make the film to be seen by a worldwide audience and we appreciate the support to those who will help us get there.”

A Kickstarter page has been set up for pledges from £1 and rewards ranging from being able to visit the set and meet the cast and crew, to being an extra, to an executive producer credit.
