A PLEASANT summer’s evening was had by all on August 14 when some 275 cyclists of all ages and abilities lined up on the starting grid of Brands Hatch Motor Racing Circuit.
There were serious club riders intent on completing as many laps as possible on the 1.2 mile Indy Circuit as well as youngsters on their brightly coloured bikes content to ride at their own pace in the two-hour time slot available.
All riders were presented with a medal when they finished as a memento of the occasion.
Swanley and North Downs Lions Club wishes to thank everybody who took part in this project together with those who helped on the day.
Thanks also to Brands Hatch for allowing us to hire the facilities on this, our fourth year of staging the event.
It is hoped with monies pledged by sponsors, boosted by Gift Aid where applicable, the net profit from this fundraiser is potentially £6,500.
All proceeds will be used to fund local charity projects as well as the club making a substantial donation to the Ellenor Lions Hospices.
