JUNE is Member’s Evening at Fairfield (Dartford) Women’s Institute and this year we were treated to a delicious supper.

Sue Metcalf kindly supplied the first course of quiche, chicken drumsticks, salad, coleslaw and sausage rolls.

This was followed by a selection of mouth-watering desserts such as lemon meringue, trifle, fruit salad, jelly and assorted gateaux provided by different members.

Afterwards Anne Moore organised another of her music quizes.

Each table pooled their memoirs as each round was played.

To hear songs from years ago brought much enjoyment and hilarity, especially when you all struggled to remember the singer.

Musicals by Andrew Lloyd-Webber proved easy but other rounds caused more problems.

The winning team got 36 out of 40 questions right, but everyone said how much they had enjoyed the experience.

Anne was presented with a flower arrangement, made by Maureen Williams, to thank her for all her work. Members were very pleased to see Helen Wingrove, a previous member who had been invited for the evening.

This month Joy Hills has arranged visits to the Queen’s Gallery and the Royal Mews, then later in the month to Eltham Palace.

Sue Metcalf will hold one of her special coffee mornings at the end of the month.

Next month - Bought to Book: My Family and Other Setbacks - Mel Rees; Competition - Baby Photograph (guess the member!).

Fairfield (Dartford) WI meets on the second Tuesday of the month at Dartford Grammer School for Girls, Shepherds Lane, at 7.30pm.
