This club was formed in 1946 and holds regular Wednesday meetings throughout the year on a monthly basis at the Methodist Church in Sevenoaks Road.

On the 11th November we had the pleasure to view 2 wonderful displays by Mr. and Mrs. French.

Fred commenced with his thematic theme covering agriculture and farming during the last 200 years.

This covered tractors and ploughing equipment, many types of cattle from the well known Hereford and Jerseys to the Chillinghams and Dexters.

Various sheep from Romneys to Merinos and then the methods in use at that time to counteract diseases. He also covered poultry and the famous Orpington Buffs and showed hpw the war land girls were essential to keep farming on the move during 1939-1945.

This fascinating and unique display encompassed stamps,postcards,cigarette cards and advertising labels.

Judith followed with her display covering Hong Kong beginning with their surcharged stamps of 1885 leading up to the second world war and censorship material and the Japanese Occupation between 1941-1945.

There was a comprehesive quantity of first flight covers and Thomas Cook perfins.

It ended with a selection of various receipts, banknotes and advertising labels superbly reflecting the social history of the last 120 years.
