The Brit Awards 2010

This year Earl’s Court in London saw the country’s high-status Brit Awards 2010 grace TV screens worldwide on Tuesday 16th February.

Boy band JLS – a slick abbreviation for ‘Jack the Lad Swing’- left the ceremony with the awards for ‘British Breakthrough Act’ and ‘British Single’ for Beat Again. Blatantly no surprise for the thousands of lovesick disciples who have been obsessing over the four lads since achieving the non-existent ‘Runner-Up’ award on The X Factor 2008.

Despite having a brilliant evening, JLS did not end ultimately as champions. Adorned in a colossal hairstyle much likened to ‘Peggy Mitchell’ off EastEnders, the controversial oddball Lady Gaga earned herself a staggering three awards - ‘International Breakthrough Act’, ‘International Female Solo Artist’ and ‘International Album’ for The Fame. However, perhaps the most shocking event of the night occurred after rock band Oasis won the Brit Award for ‘Brits Album of the last 30 Years’ for (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? Subsequent to rock legend Noddy Holder announcing the success , Liam Gallagher continued to hurl a sporadic note of advice to the audience - garnished with a swear word - before tossing his microphone and prestigious Brit Award into the audience. Controversial? Even comedian Peter Kay, presenting the award show and having witnessed this horrific crime, ‘dissed’ him instantly, and publicly afterwards.

Yet another British ceremony with some classic British drama.
