BICKLEY: Bromely High becomes Baltimore

Bromley High has it all, the name, the fame even the money - but there was something missing, HAIRSPRAY!

On Thursday 10th December and Friday 11th December, Bromley High held a school play, based on the hit musical Hairspray.

Different to any school play ever performed at Bromley High, Hairspray incorporated not only acting, but also singing and dancing.

This allowed the whole school to be involved in different ways, with a band playing live music, dancers swarming the stage and singers’ belting it out, the hall was vibrant with energy!

Hairspray was certainly a hit at Bromley High with a full house on both nights.

The shows received great responses from the audience who thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment.

Radhika Gupta, a member of the audience quotes “I did not expect the play to be so good, the standard of acting and singing was amazing”.

The show required a great deal of effort not only on the director and actors’ part but also the music department who played live music to accompany the play.

After months of preparation, Hairspray was finally ready to spray into action!

Isabella Harding, a year 11 student at Bromley High, became the big girl with big hair and star of the show, Tracy Turnblad!

She claims to have enjoyed the transformation and quotes “Despite all the time and effort I put into the show, I had so much fun, I could do it again”

Just when the evening could not get any better, year 11 stepped in with a cake sale, (in aid of the charity, water aid) for the audience to relish whilst they enjoyed the entertainment.

One spray of hairspray truly did take Bromley High on a journey to Baltimore and back!
