BECKENHAM: Women's Institute hears about local celebrities
3:36pm Monday 8th February 2010 in News By Rita Evans - community correspondent
For our first meeting of 2010 members of Beckenham WI welcomed the speaker Marie Louise Kerr from the Bromley Musuem. She told us about the famous Victorians who had lived in Bromley. They included Enid Blyton, WG Grace, Thomas Crapper, HG Wells and Charles Darwin.
We enjoyed the talk so much that we plan a visit to the Bromley Musuem.
In our social time we had a brain storming session to see what outings we would like to go on, and talks that our own talented members could provide.
Speakers are getting more and more expensive, and we need to look in house for our own members to deliver at our varied meetings.
We look forward to our 26th birthday on February 23 and we look forward to greeting new members at our lively WI. Contact number 020 8289 5188 for more details.
