The Old Royal Naval College Chapel was packed full of early Christmas cheer as hundreds of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice supporters attended the Hospice’s third annual Carol Concert on Sunday 30th November.

The Carol Concert in the pretty 18th century Chapel of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich featured a mix of choir and congregational carols and personal readings from the Mayors of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and London Borough of Bexley, Ciaran Doidge, a student from Christ The King: St Mary's Sixth Form College in Sidcup, Hospice Patron, Baroness Howells of St David’s, Hospice Patient Rikki Adam and Day Hospice Volunteer, Pat Wootton.

The congregation joined in with the Chapel Choir to sing an array of traditional carols including Once in Royal David's City and O Little Town of Bethlehem.

Reverend Dr Susan Blackall, Acting Chaplain for the Chapel, said: “It was wonderful to be part of such a special evening which raises much-needed funds for the vital work of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.

“It was also a lovely experience for our Choir to sing to such a packed Chapel and in such a warm atmosphere.”

The Carol Concert was organised by Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice fundraiser, Augusta Adu, who said: “The music and readings in such a magnificent setting really did welcome in the spirit of Christmas.

“Our grateful thanks go to everyone involved in making it such a wonderful success – including, of course, all those attending to raise funds for the Hospice.

“The event was a sell-out and we raised over £9,000, which is a fantastic achievement.” To find out more please visit www.communityhospice.org.uk, call 020 8319 9230 or email info@gbch.org.uk.
