Fancy a proper Saint Valentine folk feast of a show on February 14? Then get yourself down to the Greenwich Tavern, a few yards from Greenwich Theatre at No. 1 King William Walk for 8pm.
‘Babylon’, the new touring folk musical by the acclaimed Flanagan Collective, is a “romping, stomping” affair performed by four multi-instrumentalists who will invite you to raise a glass to the things they care about and the things they think we need to protect.
The show repeats Greenwich Theatre’s away-day theme of last year when Rumculls & Ragwater proved a big success on the Cutty Sark, proving that taking theatre to the community can work brilliantly.
“It’s another exciting example of us working with emerging companies,” said the theatre’s executive and artistic director James Haddrell. “They spent a week in our bar developing the script and the show, then they received funding to tour it. They’re also doing ‘Beulah’ later in our season (March 11-15) so this is a great chance for our audiences to get to know them.
“The pub setting offers a real alternative to a traditional Valentine’s Day night out. The show will also be performed in our own Max Wall Bar the following night, February 15.”
*Babylon, Fri, Feb 14, Greenwich Tavern, tickets £13.50 (£12.50 plus £1 booking fee), concessions £11. Sat, Feb 15, Max Wall Bar, Greenwich Theatre.
