GOLFERS have come to the fore yet again for the Freddie Farmer Foundation.

A magnificent £2,800 was raised at the Freddie Farmer day at Woodlands Manor Golf Club in West Kingsdown – kindly given to the foundation for the day by owner Ken Thornton - on Monday, September 10.

Nineteen teams of four included one led by ladies captain Chrissie Stokes, a great supporter of the charity, with Joy Wells, Maggie Olley and Sheila Carter.

The winning team was David Didino, Chris Clegg, Martin Wade and Peter Wheels.

The shotgun start followed a lovely cooked breakfast but by the 2.30pm finish everyone was ready for a chicken curry lunch.

The day ended with a raffle and auction, plus a short but moving speech by Freddie “thanking everyone for helping children like me getting on their feet”.

Earlier in the month a tee party, organised by Mick Nodin and Franky Valentine at the beautiful Cala Nova Golf Club in Mijas Costa on the Costa Del Sol in Spain, raised another 1,200 euros for the Freddie Farmer Foundation.
