Freddie's golf day success
12:36pm Saturday 14th July 2012 in Community
MORE than 90 golfers braved the rain to help raise a magnificent £6,134 for the Freddie Farmer Foundation at Shooters Hill Golf Club on Friday, July 6.
Teams of four set out from different tees but it made no difference to the winning Munson Kingpin quartet of Ritchie Keable, Trevor Lee, Alan Hanlon and Dean Pitten.
Organiser Danny Catchesides said: “The course was in magnificent condition and is a great credit to the staff and all involved. This was the fifth year of the charity event and we are very grateful.
“The meal in the evening could not be bettered and we had a wonderful time with the auction that raised most of the money. Everyone was very generous, which is what we have come to expect from our marvellous supporters.”
Auctioned items included a signed/framed England football shirt, signed/framed photos of boxers Tim Witherspoon and Michael Spinks, and yeoman warder cufflinks that went for £700.
Freddie’s mum, Deanne Farmer, said: “I must thank helpers Sylvie Mosely, Graham Lineker and Mike Ash but mostly the golf club committee and members for allowing us to use their wonderful course to raise a tremendous amount for our charity."
