THIS year's Biggin Hill Festival Fair takes place on Saturday, July 4 at the Recreation Ground, Church Road, Biggin Hill.

The fair opens to the public at 12.30pm.

There is a packed programme of arena events taking place throughout the afternoon: BELLYDANCING BY 'PHOENIX-SAHAR' BELLYDANCE GROUP, A GYMNASTICS DISPLAY BY ALLSTARZ GYMNASTICS CLUB, KOREAN MARTIAL ARTS, A TAEKWANDO DISPLAY, A JUDO DISPLAY. An integral part of the Fair is the Pride and Joy Display.

Under the stewardship of Rick Easter of Revelation Classics, the Pride & Joy display has grown bigger and bigger over recent years and we now expect around 100 vehicles on the day.

Historic vehicle enthusiasts will be gathering together to share their interests, picnic, and enjoy the village fair.

The event is open to owners of sports, performance cars, future classics and motorcycles.

Included in this year's display will be the following makes: Jaguar, VW, MG, Triumph, Honda, Rolls Royce, Morris, Austin and others.

There will also be a selection of agricultural machinery.

Enthusiasts can just turn up on the day from 9.30am. Due to the construction of the swimming pool on the old library site, the exhibitor entrance is via Kingsmead.

Another regular favourite of the day is the Fun Dog Show.

Rosettes will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place pets.

Categories are cutest puppy up to one year; best rescued dog; dog most like its owner; golden oldie; dog with waggiest tail; best tricks; wettest nose; best child handler; dog the Judge would most like to take home; the best of the best with a special doggy hamper prize.

The cost is £1 per category. Children handlers welcome.

Registration starts at 1pm and the events start from 1.30pm and be at approximately 15 minute intervals.

Last but not least there will be lots of stalls and attractions including: TOMBOLAS, CHILDREN'S RIDES, BRIC-A-BRAC, ICE CREAMS, CRAFT STALLS, PUPPET SHOW, BEER TENT, BOOK STALL, RECORD STALL, PLANT STALLS and CHILDREN'S ENTERTAINMENT.

Vistors will have the chance to support local charities and groups including: Biggin Hill and Westerham Lions Club, Evelina Trust, West Kent Beekeepers, Biggin Hill Motorcycle Action Group, St Marks Women’s Fellowship, Biggin Hill Scouts and Guides, Friends of the Park, Bromley Cats Protection, St Christopher’s Hospice, Biggin Hill Christian Fellowship, Aperfield WI and the Charles Darwin School PTA.

Cyclists can bring along their bike and take a ride with Brromley Cyclists.

There will be the usual Lucky Programme Draw with cash prizes totalling £175.

Also taking place on July 4, just over the road at St Mark's Church Hall, is Biggin Hill & District Horticultural Society's summer show, which opens at 2.30pm.


Other events taking place during Festival Fortnight include: FOAL FARM’S COUNTRY FESTIVAL - JAIL LANE, BIGGIN HILL SUNDAY, JULY 19, 11am TO 5pm.

It will include live music, dog displays, children’s entertainment, clowns, bar, cakes, tea, stalls and crafts.
