Registered charity The Woolwich Hospitals Broadcasting Service (WHBS), one of London’s oldest, established in 1961, based at the Queen Elizabeth in South London are proud to announce that local business man Trevor Lee has been elected as Chairman.

Meridian Radio owned and run by WHBS was established initially to serve Woolwich and Greenwich Hospitals. It now also provides a community station via the web and tunein apps so that patients, their friends and relatives at home can share the same programmes and on air dedications.

Amiable enthusiast Trevor Lee a long established broadcaster and disc jockey has brought much to the station already. The programs presented by him have more than a local following with listeners across Europe and as far away as South America. He is dedicated to lead the station and its team of broadcasters to expand their own portfolio of listeners and he is technologically aware, capable and eager to share his knowledge.

Trevor said, “Many hospitals have shelved their hospital radio indefinitely which is sad, because it has proved to be of a therapeutic asset”.

He went on to explain that often the listening equipment on wards is the weakest link which is why Chairman Trevor Lee said our plan is to explore the possibility of providing WiFi, probably with sponsorship, here at the Queen Elizabeth and at Lewisham Hospital.

As a community station these hospitals rightly remain at the centre of Meridians community although we would welcome other hospitals, GP waiting rooms, public areas in fact anywhere the community gathers.

To listen in 7/24 go to http://meridianradio.co.uk/ and press ‘Listen Live’ and do just that or by using the TuneIn App. and search Meridian Radio London

We would welcome all forms of sponsorship from single program to a major project such as the second studio to be built in accommodation negotiated by Trevor lee. As a team members aim to support him in the way he has supported them.
