Does your child love to sing? St Francis of Assisi Junior Choir (SFJC) is looking for girls and boys aged 7 to 13 who enjoy singing to join its small but enthusiastic group. Headed up by professional singer and vocal coach, Sarah Ince (LTCL/ Dip ABRSM), the choir covers a varied repertoire of music and performs at church events and local concerts. There’s a great club atmosphere, fun social events, no pressure, no audition, and an instructive but nurturing atmosphere. Membership is just £10 a term.

The Junior Choir is affiliated to Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) and is active in raising funds for local children’s charities – at Christmas time choir members sang at Petts Wood Station and The Sovereign of the Seas pub (huge thanks to both and all residents and regulars who donated) and proceeds went to Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

“We would welcome children of all abilities and experience,” says choir leader, Sarah. “The emphasis is on having fun while learning about rhythm, harmony, how to use the voice safely and work together as a team. There is the opportunity for more confident singers to perform solos and gain valuable performing experience. The only commitment we require in return is to perform at a short Family Service one Sunday a month.”

If your child is interested in singing and would like to go along for a trial session, the Junior Choir meets at 6pm on Thursdays at St Francis of Assisi church on the corner of Willett Way and Greencourt Road. For more information, call Sarah Ince on 07752 692 040 or just go along for a taster session Thursday nights at 6pm during term time.
