On Sunday 19th April hundreds of local children, aged between 5 and 16 years old, will complete their own ‘marathon’ to raise funds for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.

Starting at 10am from the bandstand at the top of Royal Greenwich Park, children will take part in a fun and energetic warm up led by the team from Greenwich Get Active, before running, walking or jogging their way around Royal Greenwich Park – enjoying the stunning views of London as they go.

Community Fundraiser, Augusta Adu said: “Like the Virgin London Marathon, which takes place one week after our Mini Marathon, runners will be able to stand out from the crowd by running in fancy dress. We can’t wait to see what costumes and characters will be joining us!

“We’re delighted to be returning to Royal Greenwich Park for the third time, and to be warming up the park ready for the Virgin London Marathon!”

In 2014 over 700 local children took part in the Mini Marathon and helped to raise £34,647. This year the Hospice hopes to raise £40,000, enough to enable its doctors and nurses to provide specialist care to Hospice patients for one whole week.

Registration costs £7.50 per child and every child will receive a medal at the finish line.
