NHS Greenwich are wishing locals a Happy and Healthy New Year to commemorate the opening of a new hospital in March.

The Eltham Community Hospital is set to open on 2 March 2015 and services will be phased to minimise disruption.

The first to open will be the two GP practices of Eltham Palace and Eltham Medical.

The hospital will feature modern facilities, with many single rooms having private ensuite bedrooms.

A spokesman for Greenwich Clinical Commisioning Group said: "Patients on the practice lists will be getting a letter shortly telling them the good news.

"I am sure they will be very impressed with their new facilities."

They added that people will be able to have their blood tests locally with the opening of the phlebotomy service.

The beginning of March will also see the opening of intermediate care beds.

Other community services will move in during March, such as podiatry, therapies, children's services, mental health services.

Walk in facilities will be available in April and outpatients will commence from May.

Minor procedures will become available in the summer.

The spokesman added: "The results of the ward naming competition will be announced soon and there will be an official key ceremony held in March to celebrate the opening.

"Keep an eye out for further information about this exciting development."
