A teenage boy is lucky to be alive after crashing his scooter into the back of a people carrier in Plumstead.
Independent witnesses reported that the scooter drove into the back of a silver Renault Scenic on Plumstead Common Road between 1:30 - 1:45pm.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital although his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Sgt Garvey of Catford Traffic Garage, who attended the scene, said: "From the damage it looks like he's gone into the back of the car at about 20 miles per hour.
"We're still waiting to hear about the extent of his injuries but it was reported that he was up and moving around after the accident.
"If he's got away from that with minor injuries then he's a very lucky boy, if I was him I'd buy a lottery ticket tomorrow."
Resident Helen Ellis wrote on Facebook: "There's been a terrible accident. Young lad on a bike in collision with a people carrier....please avoid if possible."
Enquiries into the accident are ongoing.
