Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice is inviting the local community to dedicate a shining light on the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice online Christmas tree.

For everyone who makes a dedication, a twinkling light will be displayed on the dedicated ‘Light up a Life’ website www.communityhospicelual.org.uk showing the name of your loved one(s) and your personal message.

There will also be three special Light up a Life services including a new service at Christ Church, Bexleyheath, in conjunction with the 'Big Switch On' of the Christmas lights on Broadway on Saturday 22nd November.

Traditional Light up a Life events will also be held in Eltham and Erith.

Sarah O’Halloran, Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, said, “Christmas is a special time of year for sharing with family and friends, and thinking of those close to us. For many people it is a time to remember loved ones and absent friends.

“Many people find sponsoring a light on one of our trees is a positive way of remembering someone special, knowing that their light is bringing comfort and pleasure to others.

“This Christmas our nurses will be working with local people, at the Hospice and at home, helping them to make the most of the time they have.”

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice stages its Light up a Life events every year, a few weeks before Christmas.

The events give people the chance to get together to celebrate the life of a loved one.

Accompanying donations directly help to support the ongoing work of the hospice, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary having cared for and supported so many local patients with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, since its opening in 1994.

There is no minimum donation for a light and all money raised will go to support the work of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.
