Staff at Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice were presented with a prayer quilt containing messages of love and friendship last month. The quilt was embroidered by Speech and Language Therapist Lesley Brown from Oxleas’ Bexley Learning Disability Team.

About 30 service users were invited to draw a picture and or write a message on a square of fabric for patients at the Hospice. Lesley then hand embroidered the drawings to turn them into a beautiful quilt.

Senior Hospice Nurse, Ellen Tumelty and Rev Ray Andrews gladly received the prayer quilt and have suggested it gets hung in a prominent place once the new extension to the Hospice is complete. They loved the pastel colours and attention to detail. The quilt was presented to Rev Ray Andrews by Sunny Sokhal who is a member of Oxleas’ ‘Can you understand it’? group and lives in Bexley.

Kate Heaps, the Hospice’s Chief Executive, said: “The prayer quilt is lovely and will fit into the Hospice perfectly.”

The quilt was presented to the Hospice on October 30th.
