Fourteen members of Bromley Ramblers spent a morning clearing four footpaths in the Chelsfield area of overgrowing trees and bushes and waist high nettles and brambles. Armed with secateurs, loppers, saws and rakes, they took to the task with enthusiasm to ensure that these important public rights of way remain open and easy to use for both local people and walkers alike.

Philip Wall, Bromley Ramblers Footpath Officer said “It was a most enjoyable day; not only did we help Bromley Council to keep a number of footpaths open, we had great fun at the same time. We will certainly volunteer our services again in the future.”

As well as keeping footpaths open, Bromley Ramblers organises a minimum of four walks each week - a long walk on Wednesdays & Sundays (about 10 to 12 miles), plus a short walk of about 4 to 6 miles on both Saturdays & Sundays. There are also a few walks on Tuesdays of around 7 or 8 miles.

Bromley Ramblers tends to walk mainly in Bromley, Kent, Surrey and East Sussex, with walking groups varying from 10 people, or so, up to 40 - the number depending on the weather, location, degree of difficulty and length of the walk. They are always looking for new members and are very friendly and welcoming.
