Meopham School has been recognised as a Centre of Academic Excellence in the field of Financial Studies.
Jessica Saunders, a pupil in Year 13, was presented with a Certificate of Achievement from Alison Park, Vice Principal of the IFS University College in recognition of her outstanding attainment in the IFS University College Certificate in Financial Studies (CeFS).
18% of students achieved A grades in the qualification at the school, compared to a national average of 5%. The school also outperformed national figures at grade B, with 41% of Meopham students achieving this against a national average of 24%.
Jessica, who achieved a mark that was in the top 1% of all 7000 students taking the qualification across the country, has also been awarded a scholarship of £750 should she decide to continue her studies at the IFS University College on one of their degree programmes.
Jessica was delighted with her award and commented, “This has made me reconsider my options for degree study. I am really interested in pursuing a career in Finance as a result of this success, and am currently adjusting my UCAS application as a result”.
Mrs Dickinson, Headteacher, added, “We are incredibly proud of the success of our students this year. Everyone has worked very hard to bring about this considerable achievement.”
