Staff at Monkey Biz Tattoo Studio on Well Hall Road, Eltham have been raising cash for a hospice charity.

Sunday’s event, which also saw staff selling homemade cakes and raffle tickets, raised funds for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.

The fundraising day was organised by owner Terry Mantell in memory of his mum, Beatrice, who was cared for at home by the Hospice at Home team in the last days of her life.

Terry and his team spent the whole day creating fabulous pieces of body art tattooing and piercings, with all the funds raised being donated to the Hospice.

Members of the Hospice at Home team, part of the Greenwich Care Partnership, entered into the spirit of the day selling raffle tickets and thanking those participating.

A fabulous £1,682.28 was raised at the event.

Barbara Hurley-Tye from the Hospice at Home team, said: “Laughter and smiles filled the day and tears of joy when the grand sum total raised was announced.

“We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the day including Terry, Michael, Conor, Pete, Chris, Ken, Wayne and Scott from the Monkey Biz team for their generosity and hard work.”

“Terry’s family, friends and regular customers pulled out all the stops to support the day too, either helping to sell raffle tickets for the fantastic raffle, which had a range of fabulous prizes donated by local shops, restaurants, businesses, friends and family. Others provided home baked cakes for sale.”
