EIGHTEEN cyclists have raised £16,795 for local charity Freddie Farmer Foundation in Bromley.

Team Freddie Farmer cycled from the Hook of Holland on May 23, through Germany and finished in Brussels on May 27 to build funds for the Freddie Farmer Foundation charity which is setting up a specialist physiotherapy centre in Bromley that aims to help disabled youngsters across London walk for the first time.

Unlike some charity challenges, the fund-raisers all paid their own way on the trip with help from specialist print company SPM Print, who paid for the van and two volunteer drivers and all the back-up expenses for the four days which meant every penny raised will go straight to the Freddie Farmer Foundation.

“This year the new centre will open in Bromley, so we joined together to raise money for The Foundation by cycling over 300 miles from Holland to Germany and back through Belgium,” said organiser and close family friend Dean Keable. “We had a great time doing it and all for a great cause.”

Charity officer Anita Catchesides said: “We are so grateful for their support and efforts cycling across Germany, raising the profile of the work we are doing to help local disabled children and young people in our community. They have done a fabulous job raising funds.”
