Teams from NatWest, R S Autos, Marks & Spencer, Yorkshire Building Society and the Marriott Bexleyheath joined in the fun yesterday (Tuesday 12th February) at the 2nd annual Bexleyheath Charity Pancake Race.

Teams of 4 navigated a route around Bexleyheath Broadway while flipping pancakes in a relay race event.

It was won by the Mariott Bexleyheath who received a special winners frying pan.

The event raises funds for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, which provides free specialist end-of-life care for adults with life-limiting illnesses, as well as providing support for their families, friends and carers.

"It was flip-tastic," said community fundraiser Claire Rogers.

Robert Spencer from R S Autos in Blackfen said: “It was a great day, good fun and we were delighted to be raising money for such a good local cause.”

The Deputy Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Brian Beckwith, presented the Mariott Bexleyheath with the coveted winners frying pan.

The Bexleyheath Charity Pancake Race was supported by Bexleyheath Business Partnership and Marriott Bexleyheath, who also supplied the pancakes.

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice is the only adult hospice in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and in Bexley covering an area of 40 square miles and a population of 500,000. The Hospice nurses care for over 2,500 local people every year.
