SAINSBURY’S Local on Avenue Road in Bexleyheath has presented specialist palliative care provider Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice with a Community Grant for £250.

The Sainsbury’s Community Grant scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is funded by the sales of ‘Bags for Life’.

Customer Service Assistant, Silvie Doherty, said: “We chose to support Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice as our local charity because they truly are local. Everyone here knows of someone who has benefited or might benefit from their good work. We are proud to support them and will continue to do so.”

Community fundraiser, Claire Rogers, who popped in store last week to collect the cheque, said: “An in-store tally saw an additional £147.48 being raised from customer donations, our blue collection pots are housed at supermarket checkouts and have proved to be very popular.

“The team at Sainsbury’s Local is putting all its efforts into raising as much money as possible for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, we can’t thank them enough.”
