LEWISHAM Council is looking for the borough’s heroes.
The Make a Difference awards recognise the huge contribution volunteers make in Lewisham and nominations are now being sought.
Previous winner Danielle Heath is vice chair of the Deptford Community Forum, sits on the Lewisham Strategic Partnership, is resident director at Lewisham Homes and set up the
tenants and residents association at Milton Court Estate, where she lives.
She said: “I was very proud to win the Neighbourhood Community Champion Award at the Council’s Make a Difference awards last year.
"I’ve been working as a volunteer for 15 years now, but got heavily involved when a young man was shot outside my house in New Cross in 2008.
"I wanted to make the area safe for my three children.”
To nominate, choose one of the eight available categories that best suits the volunteer you know, and complete a nomination form explaining what makes them special.
Nomination forms can be picked up in Lewisham libraries and leisure centres or you can go to www.lewisham.gov.uk/makeadifference.
An independent panel of judges will go through the nominations and winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony on June 7.
